My last entry was about the vigilante double-murder of two Washington registrants, Jerry Wayne Ray and Gary Blanton. I was outraged then, and I'm truly grieving now. I spoke with Leslie Blanton, Gary's widow several times on the phone, which was incredibly difficult and made the emotions even more real.
Leslie is a young struggling (now single) mother with two little boys. She needs help not just with funeral costs but with everyday costs such as bills and food, as Gary was the sole provider. She has no family in the area and Gary's family is not in the picture. The state, town and police are offering little support and on top of this, she is still facing harassment from the public.
For her safety, I will not be posting her address publicly. Please contact me at iloveanso@gmail.com if you would like to send a card, a donation, or any items she may need (non-perishable food, kids/baby items, dry goods, etc.) Alternately, you may send a donation through Laurie Draper Jones of Georgia Rising here: Donations for Leslie Blanton.
FUNERAL HOME ADDRESS:

For Gary and Leslie Blanton
Thank you so very much for your compassion and please help us rally around Leslie and her boys and let them know that Gary's death was not in vain. This is NOT okay, and it needs to change.
Please note when and if we get information about Jerry Ray's family, we will post that here as well.
Leslie Blanton speaks out (news clip)

I am a relative of jerry and want to say I too am very sorry for Leslie and her children. This has left my elderly father lost and alone. Jerry was his caregiver.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone deserves a chance with life but there are certain things that are unforgiveable, like takin the innocence from a child.
ReplyDeleteI agree that crimes against children are deplorable. Too many kids are abused sexually, physically and mentally every day.
DeleteThat being said, in this particular instance, Patrick Drum took a father from two little boys. Regardless of what their father did in his past, nothing justifies the loss these young children will now suffer. It merely perpetuates the cycle of pain.
Unfortunately there is so much more to protecting kids than what we hear on the news. For example, did you know that there are children who are charged with sex crimes, and forced to be on the public registry? And what about the children who suffer less talked-about abuse? There's no registry for people who torture, maim, starve, beat or neglect children.
However the subject is not about abused children and/or if a child commits the crime we are talking about men committing acts against helpless children. I just read this on CNN.com How would you justify this act.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
A father punched a man repeatedly in the head after catching him abusing his daughter, officials said
Authorities have not identified either
The girl is "OK besides the obvious mental trauma," the sheriff says
The father is "very remorseful," the sheriff says
(CNN) -- A Texas father caught a man sexually assaulting his 4-year-old daughter and punched him in the head repeatedly, killing him, authorities said.
The father was casually acquainted with the alleged abuser, said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon.
Neither has been publicly identified.
The girl was left inside the family's house during the social gathering, while other members of her family were tending to horses, the sheriff said.
The alleged abuser was known for his horse-grooming abilities, Harmon said.
The father returned to the house, caught the man in the act, and stopped him by striking him in the head several times, Harmon said.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the daughter was taken to a local hospital in Victoria, Texas, for examinations before being released.
The incident took place Saturday.
Harmon described the girl as "OK besides the obvious mental trauma."
Asked whether they would press charges against the father, the sheriff responded, "You have a right to defend your daughter. He acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."
Harmon described the dad as "very remorseful," adding that he didn't know the man was going to die.
Authorities were withholding the deceased man's name while they notified next of kin. Officials did not know immediately if he has a prior criminal history.
this is why pedifiles deserve to be on a registry and/or in jail.
You cannot glorify this.
Do you realize that you are posting this to an entry that talks about a man who murdered another man, for the sole reason that he was a sex offender, and that now two little boys have no father? I am failing to see the connection between the story you posted and the suffering of a family who has just had a husband murdered.
DeleteWho is glorifying or justifying anything? If the man indeed walked in on another man abusing his daughter or harming her, then I don't see anything wrong with putting a stop to it. I think most of us would do the same for a loved one.
No one is talking about pedophiles except you. Hopefully you are aware that most sex offenders are not pedophiles?
If I am reading your site correctly it is about a "loving a sex offender" which is what your fiance is and is a pedifile due to the nature of his crime.
DeleteChildren are not pedophiles. My fiancee was 12 years old when he committed his crime. Do you know what the definition of a pedophile is?
DeleteAs a medical diagnosis, pedophilia, or paedophilia, is defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 or older) typically characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary). The prepubescent child must be at least five years younger than the adolescent before the attraction can be diagnosed as pedophilia. your making excuses to love monsters. you want to love one by all means go for it there are some mistaken cases ill give you that but in your case there is no justifialbe answer. there is no excuse for men like yours. actually there really not men there disgraceful and deserve to rot in hell.
DeleteDid you miss the part about how my fiancee was 12 years old when he committed his crime, and that the definition you pasted here specifically says that a pedophile is a disorder of "adults or late adolescents"? If you are going to judge, at least make sure you have the facts straight first.

A persons comment:
'That's her there! her hubby's inside!'
'How can she stand by him?' a neighbor cried!
'I'd throw away the lock and key!'
'That husband of hers should never be free!'
'That woman can do so much better than him!'
'I'd throw all his letters away in the bin!'
'Just what can he offer now he's locked away?'
'A complete waste of space!' she shouted that day.
'That's the one there! her boyfriend's inside!
'He's scum of the earth!' a neighbors implied!
'If I was her, well I'd meet someone else!
'Not wasting my life to be left on the shelf!
'That woman's been left to cope with the shame'
'It was all over the papers! and gave out his name'
'He's useless! A criminal! Bring back the rope!'
'He'll do it again! for him there's no hope!'
My comment:
That man you condemn has a child and a wife
A Mum and a Dad who has given him life!
What would you do if this happened to yours?
Deny all your love and close all the doors?
Do you honestly think I'd sink to a level
And just turn my back and deem him a devil?
Yes! He's done wrong and is serving his time
And No! I do not agree with his crime.
'That woman' you point at, yes it is me
I was born with a name, as I'm human you see!
I'm innocent! just in case you've forgot
And love him whether you like it or not!
I've had the abuse, the comments and more
It's nothing I haven't heard all before
I mean no offense when I say this to you
I'm a victim as well- A forgotten one too.
That's beautiful. Do you mind if I share this with our group of family members?
Deleteby all means i did not write this. :) something i reflect back upon when i'm get a little depressed. :)
DeleteI was born an raised in Port Angeles, even moved to a smaller town down the Hood Canal. I remember a close friends brother having something happen to him that changed him for the rest of his life. He had a girlfriend like any teenage boy, she was younger like many relationships are. The young adult went to a party, a typical friday night event in a small town. At this particular party there was one of those girls who like to stir things up (putting it nicely), and tried to get this boy away from his girlfriend. It didn't work, HE said NO! as the party winded down and everyone went home, he thought everything was okay...It wasn't! It was far from okay. The next morning he woke up to sheriffs banging on his door, shouting "come out with your hands up, you are under arrest for the rape of (named female from the night before). The young adult male was sent to jail without much of an interrogation, he was jailed until a hearing was scheduled. During this 6 month period of waiting, the girl confessed to "crying wolf" and that she was just jealous and mad that he wouldn't sleep with her. You would think that was the end of the story? no. the prosecution/sheriffs department didn't want to look foolish for locking this poor guy up for no apparent reason for the past 6 months, so they did a deep investigation into the young mans personal life and found that he had that "under aged girlfriend", they decided to bring a State criminal case together. The State of Washington took it upon themselves to prosecute him. The man pleaded guilty because he said he wasn't going to lie or be ashamed of the situation, he loved this girl and had been together for many years. This was all they needed and sealed his coffin. He did 5 years in prison and joined the Registered for the rest of his life sex offender list. This event has FOREVER changed his life, in the most positive way..if you consider becoming a meth addict, not being able to hold down a job, no reason to even work hard for anything because THIS will follow him for THE REST OF HIS LIFE! he has been declined jobs he was over qualified for, not allowed to be around his own family members who were under the age of 16..this means he wasn't allowed to be there or apart of all of his nieces/nephews births, regular check up with a psychiatrist because he is the father of 2 little girls.
ReplyDeleteraping a CHILD is wrong.
raping any human is WRONG.
there should be punishments!
there should be different punishments for different crimes.
why don't murderers have to be on a list for the rest of their lives? they not only took lives but they changed them as well.
who says someone who murders won't/can't murder again. isn't this a sickness as well?
why doesn't a person who commits a DUI not be put on a list for the rest of their lives..well then maybe we wouldn't have so many REPEAT offenders!!!!!!!!
this is a subject that strikes a nerve because my friends life didn't change for the better, he wasn't able to do his time and move on..no it FOREVER changed his life.
What is wrong with the justice system?
I am just disgusted. I also knew and dated Gary when I was 18 knowing his past..and it didn't phase me because he was a very beautiful soul!
Wow, thank you for your response! It humanizes the issue hearing from people who knew and loved the victims of this tragedy.
DeleteBased on the research I've done as well as the public and political responses to sex crimes, the registry is clearly not achieving what its intended goal was. It has mushroomed into a shaming list and not much else. It doesn't protect children as most SOs don't re-offend anyway, and the majority of crimes against children are committed by people who have never been caught. People either don't believe or don't want to admit that sex offenders are still human beings, who often have loved ones who depend on them (as in these two brutal murders.) Eventually, people are going to have to let go of that need for revenge, or we're all going to wind up on a list sooner or later - and at that point, it will simply implode.

ReplyDeleteI was also at the Stanford Prison Experiment
I encourage you to read my blog at sosunite.blogspot.com
I remember living in a small room where each day I was supposed to
climb a water pipe and make my way into a room because I was to
save a persons life and my guardian would tell me you would like to
save lives wouldn't you? He gave me a stop watch and each day I
was suppose to time myself and get faster for that day when I could
save a life. I was supposed to walk past the person who was my guardian
who would have lunch each day with a lady, I think his wife and say
good afternoon Don and he would not say anything till the day I was told
this is the day. That day he wanted to talk and as time ground on I
knew i was going to be late and ran on anyway while he held at me
then laughed. I climbed the pipe and made my way along the legs
to the room and the window was shut, and locked not like most days
so I had to make my way around a ledge to the next window and run
through the hall to the room where there was some people now not like
ever before. They went into a back room of the court office and I was
standing in the front room when a woman showed up at the door with
a gun and blood all over her, She wanted me to come out in the hall
but her appearance was very frightening covered in blood that way so I
refused. She left when she heard others in the hall and I listened to
what she was saying then the people from the back room picked me up
and took me into what they called the inner chamber. The lady came back
and I could hear her with others and she sent a man into the room but
for some reason he did not see us in the room and told the lady the room
was clear. I know who the lady was and seen her since and she to this
day seems to be the one who shot the one I was supposed to save.
There is much more to this and other incidents I know like the time I was asked
to wear a helmet by a doctor who had a bunch of wires coming out of it and in the waiting room I spoke to a young girl, because at that time I was like maybe 8 or 9 years old myself. she said she had gotten a head up that her friend told the doctor she had seen a number of angles and her family got high paying job and had promised things to her for having seen angles, but when it was my turn I saw nothing. I told the doctor I saw nothing and he told me I had no soul. made some notes and had me picked up. I know who use information illegally to start this and facts are it's not getting better.
What you need to know Mrs Rowan is that there are people connected to the health insurance companies, church, fake news, and the public address systems who in the fifties knew little more about sex offenders than that they hated them as much as they hate anything. Gays, Jews, Muslims, heck anyone that might be in anyway different than them. They have their coalition of church hate and sit each day composing more propaganda to control the masses through their networks TV programs, and such and their staff use the air waves, cables, optical strands, etc. to maintain wealth and dam anyone who might get in their way of the hate network. They are paid to write this stuff to squelch anyone who might think different which is nothing more than Kay Bailey Hutchison or the list goes on, but you get my drift. 50 years ago if you were gay you were dead by these terrorist hands. Now they are losing grip and when they passed these laws they were splitting hairs. See if you look the law is not even a law because procedure was not followed when the laws was passed in the middle of the night. Just know you are not alone. My wife has been through so much and she knows likely I will be targeted with a bullet just as I have been targeted for years by the closed minds of horrible people that use sex laws.
